The founder of the collective, Dani Maloney, envisioned a company that melds contemporary dance forms with specialized elements, birthing a fresh and invigorating artistic endeavor.
Dani intertwines athletic movement with compelling narratives to craft a distinct experience for audiences. Maloney articulates, "Dance enables individuals to witness their authentic truths gracefully manifest before them. This encapsulates the core aspiration of DMD – to evoke genuine emotions within people."

Dani's dance studies began at the age of three when she started taking lessons at Long’s School of Dance in Erie, Pennsylvania. Maloney’s passions translated into her college career at Shenandoah Conservatory where she received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in dance and choreography in December 2017.

Along with her training, Dani created a group titled DMD (Dani Maloney Dance) that she would later turn into a nonprofit dance company in the year 2020.
